Adore the way this is reading like an episode, it's gripping with enough interaction between all the characters for it to be an impressive ensamble piece.
I know Sammy sent Chris down to the Collater's den but Gene and Ray are being a bit hard on him, and that's perfect, that's exactly how they'd be...I just kinda feel sorry for him.

Thank you! I realized after writing the first chapter that I'd completely forgotten about Annie. Whoops. So I gave her basically her own chapter. Hopefully Gene will come to his senses soon, but he is quite stubborn...

This was a great continuation from the first chapter. You've got a nice mystery going with Sam's vanishing act and you write Annie in particular very well, and have a good handle on the other team member's reactions and interaction.
