Word Count: 1200+ words.
Notes: I’ve decided, with the aid of my beautiful Life on Mars calendar, that July should be Annie month. So I’m going to try an Annie-centric fic/ficlet a week - because you know what? Annie is made of awesome. And I think we sometimes forget that, what with the shiny cars ( Read more... )

Annie is indeed awesome, and this fic sounds just like her. And the flirty banter between her and Sam is spot on :)

I never really connected with Annie in the show. I always felt the writing for her charatcer was too uneven, like Matt & Ash had been forced to have this girl in with all their boys and they really didn't know what kind of person they wanted her to be.

Now if they would have had you on staff, letting them know that a strong, consistant, but still empathetic female could have audience appeal, then I think I might have enjoyed Annie more than I did.

I love your Annie. She's confident and smart, and I'm sure that in your world, you will remember that she is supposed to have a university degree in Psychology.

I'm looking forward to Annie month.

Oh, I love Annie. I do think you have a point - that Matt and Ash sometimes had her there simply because they felt they needed a strong female presence, or to show the horror of casual 1970s sexism (whilst simultaneously snickering behind their hands), or to fulfill the required romantic moment with Sam, but they gave us a lot of great things with her too. I think Ashley wrote her the way I liked her best - just an edge of snarkiness amongst her support of Sam.

Not only does Annie have a degree in psychology, she was a barmaid for six months, knows First Aid, has managed to become WDC at a relatively young age, and apparently has a limitless reserve of patience ;)

You're the best! Annie month is much needed.

Er, will come back and comment on the fic later, as we're on our way out and I must log off. But needed to say that *now*!

Great work, Annie was underrated in the show. You've got her personality and the flirty banter between her and San just right.

The Annie in the show was underused and underrated. Your Annie is smart, confident, amsuing and quick. All the things she'd have had to be to get where she ended up (even with Sam's help).

I didn't always enjoy her when on screen but that's not Liz White's doing. It's Matt and Ash not really knowing where to put this woman in amongst all their lads and they kind of left her too it a lot of the time.

Like I said, your Annie, she rocks :)

I'm really looking forward to Annie month.

Well, Annie is smart, confident and quick in the show, too - we see that. But her role is to operate as Sam's sounding board and love interest. And she does this fantastically, but because it's Sam's show, she doesn't quite get the attention she deserves.

But that's why we have fan fiction!

Thanks ;)
