Fanart/fic: Tempest and Coulro/MasterPages, White Cortina

Title: Tempest and Coulro
Rating: White Cortina
Word count: 178
Notes: Had this idea AGES ago, had the sketch done before the holidays, but it was such a busy time and this makes such a good occasion--happy birthday, Cello! I may reline and color it or write more to go with it eventually, but my schedule is likely to remain hectic for some time.
Summary: Crossing worlds is a risky endeavor.

“Coulro!” The little girl called.

Instantly, her tall companion appeared at her side.

“You called, Tempest Cardona?”

“I must go to the other world, the one I showed you yesterday.”

“You know that once we’re there, I won’t be able to help you.”

“I know.”

“Until you gain strength there, you won’t be able to so much as touch anything, and I will be small and lifeless in your arms, completely helpless. If you lose me, we will be trapped apart forever.”

“I won’t let that happen,” she promised. “You are my friend, my only friend.”

“Very well.” He put one hand on her shoulder and lifted the other, bracing himself for the journey through the portal. The passage always cost them something, and this world was particularly taxing: It cost Coulro his form and stole the yellow from their clothing.

Tempest put her little hand up to her shoulder, touching the strong fingers of her protector. In a moment, she would be his protector, his only way back to the world they were about to leave behind.
