"Here's to another case closed," Gene said proudly. "You an' me, Sam."
"Let's not forget Chris," said Sam.
"Chris? All he did was sit about lookin' up names and dates..."
"Which helped considerably. Give credit where it's due, Gene... he was very sedulous in his work."
"Very what?"
"Sssedulous?"
"If that means 'e was a pain in the arse, I'll drink to that."
"It just means... dilligent. Painstaking."
"Why didn't you say so?"
"I happen to like using a varied vocabulary."
Gene picked up his glass again. "Look, let's just drink to the closed case, eh?"
Sam sighed. "Right, Guv."
