Wow - you don't get much more AU than that!!! I thought it was great, very funny, very in-character (apart from the obvious differences that is, and they're fine!) and Very Hot. Now all we need is for one of the very talented artists on ...1973 to come up with a suitable illustration....

Very enjoyable! Thanks for sharing!

Yeah. ;) bastardlyarmed's first request was "Vampire!Gene AU, Sam/Gene, pointy stakes". But I didn't want to say that up front. Thought it would be more fun if I peppered in a few hints but left it a surprise for awhile. ;)

Glad you liked it. Thanks for commenting. :)

<3 I love vampire AUs! This was really hot and I enjoyed it very, very much. One teeny little typo leaped out at me in the paragraph where Gene bites Sam, in the sentence "The sound that escapes Sam's throat...Gene drinks from his throat and stokes his cock..." that should be "strokes", right?
I can't recall spotting any others. OK, taking off the red-pencil hat now LOL
Great job overall! <3

Oooh! Good catch, fixed!

And yay, another vampire AU lover! ;) I have to admit, I felt a bit tempted to write more in this AU after writing this one. Showing Sam's arrival. How Gene can be a cop and a vampire and hunt others of his kind. How that all works and such. How they hook up. Hmmmmm! Maybe. :)

I'm glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for commenting! :D

Thank you very much! I've been feeling a little twitchy that people maybe didn't like it so much as there hasn't been a lot of response thus far...

This was initially a one-off for the 2010 Ficathon, but there could be more...

Do you want more?

Yes, of course! :)

I usually don't give a lot of feedback as I read most of the stories when I'm offline, but I just had to give you some feedback for this AU. *thumbs up*

What a fun and intriguing 'verse you've created here! I love the idea that when Sam landed in 1973, he had to contend, not just with the changes we see in the series, but a Manchester filled with vampires. ('Stakeout'. Heh.)

But is Gene 'out' as a vampire in general? (I was wondering if his Litton comment implied that.) Do the rest of CID have any idea? Is he only able to move about at night, too, like the vampires he's fighting? And are there other 'good' vampires in CID besides Gene? *suddenly has mental picture of Chris as a vampire and tries not to go into capslock*

*grins* Why thank you! :D

Yeah, the basic idea is that Sam's whole world has been turned upside down and on its head. Some of the verse is very thoroughly thought out and other parts less so. But Gene is definitely 'out' as a vampire and yes the Litton comment was definitely a tip of the hat toward that fact. ;) CID definitely knows. I'm still pondering the whole day/night thing and was leaning toward 'aversion to sunlight' rather than 'sleeps all day and only functions at night' version of vampires. As for who else in CID might be a vampire, I hadn't yet considered or decided. ;)

Is capslock in this case a thing of glee or horror? ;)

Oh, definitely glee. I actually rather like the thought of one or two of the more inoffensive characters being vampires (e.g. June).

And I agree with Gene with all my heart. Sam does have a CRAZY sexy neck. *points at icon*

Exactly! It's so LONG and LOVELY! Definitely something that caught Vampire!Gene's attention right away. >;)~

I'll have to ponder the vampire thing some more. I think it would be more likely that Ray would be a vampire as well. That kind of power.... hard to be humble and sweet when you got it. Gene would be a good enough Sheriff to rein it in. Ray? Ray I could see being something of a wild card. Trying to follow Gene's example but with a more natural tendency to be violent and 'bad'.

Hmmmmmmmmmmmm.
