Question about british police forces
Sorry for any grammar mistakes. ^^*
I researched a little about police ranks and departements and stuff like that, but sadly I didn't really see anything about the training.
So, how do you become a police officer? Do you have to go to university first? Or is there something like a police acadamy? If yes, how long does it take? Or do you just join the forces, say 'here I am' and they do the rest? (Probably not.)
And how do you get promoted? Do you stay a constable for all your life if nobody likes you enough to make you sergeant? Or do you have to pass some kind of test?
As you see, I'm really, really clueless. ^^*
I need information on both times, the 70's and nowadays, pretty please. =)
