Ugh, a road trip without music! That is just plain torture. A nice lighter chapter away from the mystery. Sam & Ray in London, that could be interesting. Are they going to pay a visit to Houndsditch? (That is where you relocated to, isn't it? The place you didn't like?)

The disgusting hotel (I suppose with an en suite bathroom it must be a hotel?) reminds me of places I've stayed in Britain. Ah, travelling in one of the most expensive countries of Europe as a perpetually broke student... *g* I never had an en suite bedroom, though, because I always stayed at B&B's or hostels.

Lovely chapter. I kind of want to see Sam go to a concert, too - I have a bit of a Sam-as-a-music-geek fetish that's too rarely served by fic. ;-)

PS: the wallpaper does not bode well, methinks. This may become another very interesting night for DS Carling.
