awwwww. Gene's gonna protect Cecil now. I love this set of stories even though I haven't managed to see Meat yet. It's in the pile. Now it's being pushed up to the top of the pile for the weekend so I can aww over cecil some more.

I'm so glad to see this series continuing, I even sat through (most of) Meat because of it - yes, I'm liking these stories so much I tolerated the better part of a truly awful melodrama just to see an illegally-young-looking John Simm playing a rentboy Cecil.

I like the hints of Cecil's past we get in this part, with allusions to a family life bad enough to drive him onto that first train that manage not to cross the line in excess angst, given how bad a state poor Cecil is already in. Not sure if that makes sense, it just felt very credible in the context of his hallucinations. And while it must be stirring bad memories for Gene to be at the hospital bed-side of a Sam lookalike, I'm glad he's there to take care of Cecil even if his arrival did come as a surprise. Good ol' honourable Gene :)

It is truly awful. But the John Simm moments are the best.

I'm glad you think Cecil's past wasn't too angsty. I've already put him through quite a lot (and there's more in store for the poor boy), so I didn't want to make his past overly dramatic.

Y'know, I'm struggling to remember where or how I found it, only that it was a low-res digital transfer from VHS and I didn't bother keeping it because I don't think I could have managed to watch it twice, even with John Simm :P

Anywho, this was wonderful! It goes without saying that you are a great writer, but this entire series is just incredible. Beyond words at times. Loved the part where Cecil was hallucinating and thought Gene was his mother. And just the whole thing with Cecil being ill. I don't know why, but seeing pretty people sick makes me happy. XD
