When Vic was running through the forest, running to his freedom, away from this crazy copper, the fear of getting caught slowly turned into anger. Anger at this one man. Psycho! Tosser! Nutcase with those insanely sad eyes, those eyes that kept begging him to stay…
Stay!? How was he supposed to stay now, huh?!
If this inspector hadn’t interfered, Vic would have pulled it off this time! This would have been his break! He could have made a whole bunch of money! Enough money to buy a house, to finally own a house. A big, beautiful house with exclusive furniture, a wardrobe with the finest pieces of clothing and outside his mansion he would park an Aston Martin. He’d be like bloody James Bond! He’d be a man women admired and men respected, not a useless, little salesman who people looked at as if he was something smelly under their shoe.

If he had only got rid of the copper…though the barmy, clever bastard had handed him an empty gun. And had eventually tricked him into a confession. Vic was hopping mad about this but, oh, he would get back to him, when the time was right, after he had his name changed, after he had built himself an empire of wealthiness, he’d get back to him and he would savour the moment of sweet, sweet revenge then, oh, yeah he would.

With the blood rushing in his ears, heart pounding like a jack-hammer in his chest and thoughts of power and vendetta occupying his mind he didn’t hear the one word that would have secured his second change, his utopia.

“Timber!”

And that was the end of Vic Tyler.
