Thats probably the most sensible and intelligent thing Gene has ever said in this fic; Sam has been offered all these ways home, ways that hurt not just himself but others and include great risk - maybe his way home is something that'll happen when he least expects it?

Not that it helps Sam much, because now Sam doesn't trust himself, but still...smart move, Gene. For a change.
And I'm also with Ange: brilliant use of imagery here, overall. Sam's dispondancy is so clearly mirrored in the endless 'drip drip', and Gene's real emotions revealed by the destruction of the poor innocent pink wafer. Wonderfully done!
Now, though, I despair of Sam getting home. If Gene keeps playing it smart, then Sam won't want to kill him, and he'll be trapped in his hell forever. *shudders* Wah!!
*still eyes secondary characters with great suspicion, and waiting for the contents of that safe to show up...yes, I am easily distracted...*

Of course, that's assuming that the only way home is killing Gene.
I'm glad you liked the imagery. I was worried the "drips" might be more annoying than anything else.
Thank you!

Well, yeah, that's my assumption, mostly based off of canon, which I know doesn't mean a lot in a totally AU story like this, but I'm grasping at straws here! Gimme something!!! *whines*
The 'drip' effect was not annoying, I think it conveyed the whole mood of the scene beautifully. Yeah, it was very repetitive, but it flowed within the context of Sam's discontent and disarray. Well done!

This really is going to get a hell of a lot worse before it gets better, isn't it?! *wibbles*
