This has a real feeling of despair to it with Annie gradually losing Sam and then the grief of the last section.

Beautiful. Absolutely beautiful. I do believe this has made it onto my top 3 first-read fics. Actually, it might be #2. (Sorry, babe, there's just no beating "The Dagger of Her Trade", an HP fic.) I'll let you know how you fare in the long run. *wink*
