Really nice set up. With Sam out of the picture and what Gene now had learned thanks to Sam, Annie would be the only possible choice.

Of course you've left me wondering why Sam went to Norwich, *dead curious* but I'm just glad he's not just dead.

Loved the pen knife and the tapes and Ray's happy take on "priceless." Love the comparisons between Annie and Gene.

*hopes fervently that she gets to issue full license again*

I'm sleep deprived & looked at your character line & went Gene/Annie -- Faws is broken!

The full license will not be forthcoming with the next episode I know, but after that I'm hoping that you'll feel kindly disposed towards me and my smut bunnies. And I hope you like part 2 anyway, despite the lack of filthy filth!

And I love how Gene is trying to keep things going along the lines that Sam had tried to show him. Not just for sentiment (this *is* Gene, after all) but because things go better all around when CID folk are focused and competent instead of falling apart.

You've hit the nail on the head with Gene and how he's trying to keep CID going. But can he really do it without his DI by his side? Does he have to resort to drastic measures? Watch this space!
