Elephant Caves - Mumbai

I'm reporting from the site, apparently did have my notebook with me, and also amazed that the tata photon card works quite well out here.

Not to keen on leaving a long travelogue, but have been to so many places, never had a camera or a single snap taken, but always promised myself that I would pen down the experience, never got to it.

What could I say, and Where could I start ?

This place is just amazing, and it's just an explosion on visual senses. And I have made it a point never to go around a monumental site without a tourist guide, they don't cost much, and what is the point of visiting places and not knowing the story behind it. And yes, I do stay clear of those trigger happy snappers.

There was no guide here, they had left, but I had a security guard from Bihar, who offered his services to double up as a guide, well, I did read about this place and it's history, so I did hear to his initial few sentences, and I should say he was quite accurate, and with a little encouragement he did quite well, showing me around, and drawing my attention to structures and sculptures that are not obvious to a casual surfer.

The good part about this travel was it involved a breezy boat ride, quite a distance from the shore.

And I'm just amazed at this civilization, and this country, always surprises you, so diverse, with so many stories, and so ancient that you can never be disappointed.

But what I'm irritated about is the people, how can you have such a vibrant and intense stories manifested in art forms and not protect them ?

Signing off, if you ever go to Mumbai, take a ride here, and don't forget to read up or don't hesitate to hire a guide.

Take Care,

Sudh
