The Birds

Tuesday evening Andrew, Joe and I went to see The Birds at the Dowling Studio in the Guthrie.
Isn't it interesting how images prompt us to such thoughts. One day when Daphne du Maurier, in her 40s, was walking to their farm in Briton when she saw a cloud of screaming gulls flying over a farmer's head as he ploughed his field. It was then that the thought came to her mind what if the birds attacked.

Then in 2009 Conor McPherson writes and produces his version of The Birds, which is now at the Guthrie Theater. McPherson takes a different approach as his characters question the end of the world and the purpose of life.

To me it is a dark work but an interesting study of humankind.
