Postcards from "The Shining"

Howdy boys, girls and those who have yet to decide...
I am living in my new condo now, which also explains my absence as of late. I didn't have internet access until very recently. I looked into Comcast, "the exclusive provider for my apartment building." Well, in a great sign that I have spent too much time with politically minded vegans and I've decided cable is one of the great evils of the modern age. Without cable television service, they want $57 a month for high speed internet. FUCK THAT. So in my giant middle finger to Comcast, I went to Sprint and for $3 more a month, I can get on the internet ANYWHERE in the world a Sprint cell phone would get a signal.

Well as it turns out, the building isn't even wired by Comcast yet, and there will be no internet service until Christmas...which let's be real, means probably late Jan. in reality.

So I generally do love my new place; however, there are tons of little issues that need to be resolved. It was a little weird at first, because for the past 2 weeks, it was really just myself, my slightly odd neighbor Jack, and the third guy I never see...aka Taureg guy. Actually, it's kind of funny because we all seem to know each other by our cars. I guess because no one knows the building too well yet it is easier to recall than unit numbers. But back to the point, so it was just myself, Jack (aka prius guy), and the phantom neighbor (Taureg guy) in this gigantic, creaky, giant old building. I was enjoying blasting my music, thumping around, and generally living in my vast spooky castle. The influx of people officially started last night. It's O.K., but I liked not sharing the elevator and what not. Really, there was a point to this paragraph, but thanks to listening to "Radio Lab" a little too intently and I can barely pay attention to livejournal.

Last week at work sucke--I logged about 59 hours. I would like to comment on this by saying being a responsible adult is highly overrated. When I was in Kindergarten, I wanted to be in high school so I could drive and stay up late. In high school, I wanted to be in college so I could come and go as I please. In college, I wanted to be working so I could actually have money to spend. Now that I am working, I want to be back in Kindergarten so I can finger paint, nap and basically live in a manner requiring no important obligations such as waking up on time or paying a mortgage.

I will end this overly verbose post with saying my old computer is in shambles. So even though I have had an iBook since early 2006, however, I used it almost exclusively for DJing. Now, it has become my main computer and I have no idea why I stuck with Winblows as long as I did. I am now saving for a Powerbook (though now they call them "MacBook Pros.") I still want to keep this mainly for DJing as the audio software is incredibly taxing on the system--not to mention, to save me shit loads of work, I set it to automatically import my music from iTunes. So, I can't be adding non-DJ tracks to this CPU. It will make spinning sets much more difficult to find the track I need. As a temporary solution, I bought an external fire wire drive that doesn't require additional power.

why i want to be in kindergarten, computer, work, ibook, condo, apple
