Camping

So I took the brand spankin' new ultralight tent out for a test run on an 8.8 mile hike this weekend. It was bad ass. Eating dinner, watching the sunset over the Appalachian Trail is an experience truly beyond description. I also woke up in time to watch the sunrise creep over the early morning fog. It fucking ruuuuled. There was also a deer all of 20 feet from my tent who looked at me like "who the hell are you and what are you doing all the way up here, arse-tart?" I <3 punk rock deer.
I can't wait to go again. This time I am gonna lighten my pack some more and increase the amount of water in my pack. A lot of the streams up top were dry...I had a close call on the situation but I made it to a stream and dropped in some water purification tablet. I had to wait 30 minutes with a dehydration headache, but oh well. It was a lesson learned.
The money for the gear was well spent. This is definitely a great plan to get in shape. I want to be a sexy survivalist hooker.

Oh and thank god I bought trekking poles. They made carrying such a heavy pack easier.

Oh here are the pics of Chief my rents are rescuing for me. They will keep him until I move into my new condo in the early fall.
I am probably gonna rename him "Tigre" as in the French word for tiger. Sorry the pics are crappy, I am sure a plethora of better pics will be posted here one I can go snap my own.
