What was the point of that -- to show us that men can be no better than beasts?

Everyone should have known it already.

[pause]

There have been a lot of people leaving. Has anyone ever been with someone at the time they disappeared? Or in their assigned room?

You've done nothing to prove you can use them responsibly.

You're right. I have done nothing. I have not tried to destroy the barge or break into anyone's room. I have not turned on the people who swore to me. I have not laid a finger on anyone, not even Arthas or Fordring. I've only tried to survive.

Can you say the same for the Wardens?

I talked to him. Why?

So did I.

What do you think of his ideas?

I'm still deciding. He's intelligent.

Intelligence may not be enough when the Admiral is involved.

I assumed that some were better as beasts, actually.

We're all beasts. It's our obligation to acknowledge the instincts and use them or ignore them like civilized animals. [He wants a shower like burning now, though.]

That I can't argue with.

But we don't all share the same instincts... or the same idea of civilization. [...yeah, same.]

There are certain standards of civilization represented here that I'm grateful I'm not required to abide by. Being a part of a society should be a choice, not a requirement, or else you're a prisoner to it rather than a citizen or civilian.

Is that what it's like where you're from? What happens to the people who choose otherwise?

Showing someone public information is hardly treacherous... especially when the Admiral provides so much more himself.

Hardly every perspective.

Then no one would know otherwise, would they?

[Vanessa's already lurking around, cloaked with her hood drawn down as usual, by the time he gets there. She uses the cover of the shelves to move to where she can speak to him without being seen by anyone else who happens to be in the library.]

I told you not to reply to it.

[Despite himself, Vanessa still surprises him. She's taller than he expected, and without his powers, there's that usual feeling of vulnerability. He forces it back.]

I made my reply as short as possible. How else were you gonna know I got it?

By showing up here or not. Now he knows I asked you to meet me and he'll be watching me more closely than he might have otherwise. I don't need that, he's already suspicious enough.

What do you know about his sister?
