Even in Westfall we heard of the grand, inspiring speeches given by great heroes on the battlefields of Northrend. [Vanessa pitches her voice deeper as she quotes, imitating a man's.] "The blood of your people demands justice, come forth and answer for your crimes!"

A righteous cause indeed... while at home the people still suffer, bleed, and die ( Read more... )

Might I ask who you are, what cause or people did you fight for, to speak with such fervor?

For the people betrayed and abandoned by Stormwind - who else?

And what banner would you unite them under?

Their own, what else? They have not forgotten that they are brothers and sisters, even if the men who claim to rule them have.

Hmm. And how did you fight for your people?

With blade and voice and whatever else we could muster against the army.

Might I ask who you are, to question me with such interest?

I wish to know, to understand, as I am not from Stormwind or of it's Kingdom. And I am Highlord Tirion Fordring, of the Argent Crusade.

Highlord Fordring.

I suppose you're here as a warden. [Sarcasm so thick you can cut it with a knife.]

Indeed, I am.

After all you did in Northrend?

Death must favor the rich and noble almost as much as life.

After what I did in Northrend? You mean vanquish the Lich King and continue to dismantle the Scourge?

What are you talking about?

Feasting and tournaments while my brothers starved in the streets.

You would judge me for holding a tournament to determine the best Azeroth had to offer so that there would be no needless sacrifice of men and women to swell the Scourge's ranks?

When a fraction of the cost would have fed all of Stormwind's orphans or bought them blades to defend themselves when the soldiers wouldn't raise a finger to help? Oh yes, I would

Do you know how many of us died in Northrend for your cause? How the families they left behind begged on the streets until they could no longer survive in the city and were forced out on their own to die in the forest or on the road?

Don't talk to me about the needless sacrifice of war, Highlord. We were the ones sacrificed, not you and yours.

You speak as it if was only my cause, girl, as if the Horde and Alliance weren't going to mobilize against the Scourge in Northrend without me. I did not lead them, and you think I was somehow privy to the finances of either group? I was not.

The orphans of Stormwind wouldn't be able to defend themselves against the Undead, and they and the rest of the world will not have to live in fear of the Lich King or the Scourge.

Don't speak to me as if I don't know the sacrifices made, or that I'm somehow above all the lives lost in Northrend. You do nothing but belittle their sacrifice, as if yours outweighs theirs.

Does that make you innocent of it? You were there, you had their ears, and I doubt you gave even a single thought to what your war did to us. I know they didn't.

No? They're still crushed under the tyranny of a King. Does it matter which one kills them, save that now they die knowing they've been betrayed as well as murdered? The deaths go on, Highlord. The war - our war - is far from over.
