Damn. It's been forever since I've updated. I feel like a horrible person, because every time I think of something worth posting, I keep it to myself. I guess that's partly because of who I am, and partly because I'm too lazy and I can always find other ways to spend my time when I have it. I've never really been the type of person who talks about ( Read more... )

For some reason, I can't get Jim Morrison out of my head. He once said that he wanted to die painfully, with feeling. Even going down in flames on an airplane would have been an acceptable death for him. I really do admire the crazy bastard. But then again, he ended up dying in a bathtub from an overdose...

Still, I heart the Doors. And what was I talking about?

I can certainly understand the sentiments driving your decision to become vegan. I've seen the conditions in which farm animals have to live... It's deplorable. Killing an animal and eating it for sustenance is something that doesn't really bother me, but seeing those animals live in crowded, unhealthy conditions and then killed en masse leaves me queasy. Ignoring the fact that eating animals that are raised and fed in such disgusting environments cannot possibly be good for us, it really is quite depressing.

And my school really does have the best vegan blueberry muffins ever.

Whee for updates!

Nobody, animals included, deserves to live the kind of life that a lot of those animals live. And I heart muffins. *hugs*

perhaps, perhaps not, but shouldn't we live as if it does in case it does? It's not like you have anything to lose if it doesn't.

My sentiments exactly. Mind you, I do sometimes think that vegetarianism is partly motivated by fear of death. Which dovetails nicely into our whole death discussion, doesn't it?

I think that vegetarianism has more to do with not wanting to take the life of another ourselves, when perhaps they aren't ready to go. I mean, we're stuck here, we might as well make the most of it. And a lot of those animals live in horrible condtions, and even before death they're suffering cruelly, so death is perhaps the kindest part of it.

Yes, those are the reasons I am a vegetarian too. But I also have a theory that another reason is the denial of death. I tend to think there are usually a lot of reasons for things, and many of them are not well known to us. And then again, sometimes I think there really aren't any reasons why we do things, and it's all just smoke and mirrors.

perhaps, perhaps... maybe our brains are just tricking us into thinking that we get to think things through and make decisions, while in actuality it's already been decided for us since before we were born.

Yes. We would like to know if you are predetermining all of our actions, or are we somehow in control of them? Thank you in advance for your response.

Phew. I knew I shouldn't have been worried about the whole free will thing all this time.

But wait. If you are truly the purple penguin, then you must know what kind of cheesecake I am eating, and what I am doing with the topping.

I never said that I'm omniscient.

But maybe you're not even eating cheesecake.

Cherry chees cake, and I am not eating the cherries 'cause I don't like the way they taste. Why is it that LJ and junk food go together so well?
