I seriously just spent almost 3 hours stretching without even realizing how much time went by. I hope I can make a habit of this. I'm in a middle split (well, as close as I can get) as I type. I'm not really sure what started this desire to become really flexible again (or my strange fascination with contortionists), but it's kind of fun. And painful. But pain can be fun, no?
I've been wanting to do scorpions all last year because they look really pretty when you can hold them and it would be awesome to be able to do on beam. Sadly, my back flexibility was serverely lacking and when I would try to get my leg up, I couldn't even pull it up without having to dislocate my shoulder...and I'd have to hold onto something...and I would immediately fall out of it. Now, I can do it without holding onto anything and I can keep balanced. (I know this isn't exactly interesting to anyone but now at least everyone can see what I actually do when I'm home, even though I just shrug and say "nothing" when asked.)
This one was the easiest to get into but I'm standing up the tallest.
And this one I'm leaning over the furthest. I'm not sure which way you're actually supposed to do it, or if it even matters.
I had my heel on my head in this one. I could have actually leaned over more/had my leg up higher/etc on all of them, but it's extremely hard to set a camera, run off and get into position slow and balanced enough to hold it all in 10 seconds.
See..this is me falling over as the picture took (one of the earlier ones). Ah, such grace.
(I can actually get my feet onto my forehead but not in 10 seconds...I should have had my mom take pictures.)
Mom..come here. I have a question.
What?
Is my butt close to my head or just my feet?
Um..your feet I guess. Why are you doing that exactly?
So I can run away and join the circus.
I'm going to sleep. *promptly exits*
Stepping on my head in an elbow sit. I had to tuck my foot under the cushion for it to stay there but I hope to be able to hold it and split bigger on my own eventually. I can actually hold myself up and move my legs around pretty well without crashing over.
It's really annoying not having a padded room to do this in though. There is nowhere in my house I can freely do elbow stands because if I fall over, I'll land on something and it will hurt a whole lot. Outside is an option, but having your face pressed into the grass really isn't terribly pleasant. Maybe I'll just look into yoga for now.
This will be a nice reference for tomorrow when I am physically unable to move any part of my body and am in excruciating pain. Oh..and please, no comments on my outfit.
