Yay sleep!

Today has been fairly euphoric. Since my last post I actually passed my sleeping record. I pulled an all-nighter grading student papers. I spent way too long on them - but I really like teaching. And I get very involved with tailoring mini-lessons to give them for each conference. Freshmen are adorable in that helpless puppy-dog way. It's a fabulous feeling of authority to realize that I am potentially impacting their entire writing career. No wonder they isolate freshmen in freshmen classes. They are very impressionable. With a few nice exceptions. Some of them were refreshingly excellent writers already.

My favorite student had to be the one who wrote a paper about why the greek gods weren't really gods. It was pretty amazing. When we met for conference, he asked me to just attack his paper and find every logical fallacy. It was really fun.

As for today's euphoria - I got 7 hours of sleep last night, got up in time to work out and enjoy the lovely morning - it was fabulous. I should do that sleep thing more often. I am really glad that I never started drinking caffeine - otherwise I am sure it would currently be a very expensive habit right now. I pick up L's rockstar sometimes when she's transnochar-ing. That stuff is not cheap - even on sale.

I saw a guy hit the curb today and flip clear over the handlebars - it was awesome.

Looking at grad school. Well - PhD actually. Most schools don't offer a program in JUST a masters degree. The interesting thing is that it isn't half as intimidating as I had always thought it would be. Berkley looks difficult...But most top linguistic grad programs? I already know quite a bit of what my first year of studies would be. Although I have already promised myself that although I will take it into consideration, money will not be a deciding factor.
