Sunnydale Beach, Columbus Day

Oct 14, 2013 10:12

Columbus Day in Sunnydale was a perfect -- if hot -- early fall day, and Tara and her friends were marking it with a picnic and football game on the beach.

Well, it had started out as a football game on the beach. But Willow wanted to stay on a blanket, and Tara wanted to keep her company, and Xander and Anya didn't seem all that jazzed about tossing a ball around on the heat either -- which meant in practice, Riley and Buffy were playing football while everyone else watched.

At the moment, Buffy was going down to a tackle that looked more like a grope-le to Tara.

"I'm exhausted just looking at those two. All the splashing and jumping and running... Shouldn't relaxing involve less exertion?" Xander asked.

"Absolutely. Exertion can lead to sweatiness," Anya nodded.

"Which can cause the pain and heartbreak of stinkiness," Tara said, trying to sound wise. "Better to just stay put."

"I think we've just put our finger on why we're the sidekicks," Willow offered.

A moment later, Buffy and Riley finished their game; a moment after that, a downpour started that drove the group off the beach. But through it all, Tara was certain of one thing: She'd rather be a sidekick to the Slayer than just about anything else in the world.

[OOC: And fin. Bye, Tara. NFI, OOC welcome.]
