Sunnydale, Thursday Afternoon

Aug 15, 2013 14:00

Somewhere that wasn't quite Sunnydale, a group of monks were meeting and plotting. They'd decided the best way to conceal the key was to give it human form, and they were almost done exploring the powerful magics they'd need to create a person -- a girl -- out of pure energy. A few more weeks, and the key would be walking, eating cereal, and ( Read more... )

Kennedy was so saving that picture.

Bailey says hi back, she replied, attaching a handwavey la la picture of a sleeping rabbit.

She waited about two seconds before sending a second text:

Oh yeah. So do I. ;)

But Bailey's cuter about it, Tara texted back. Lying. How's Brazil?

He does have the floppy ears going for him. It's true. Sad to say that Kennedy had not so much developed a sense of modesty as she had self-deprecating humor. Brazil's good. Winter here. BTW that's still weird. Cool though. Pun intended.

Lucky, Tara typed back. I think I might literally melt here. But at least the beach is pretty.

Trade you a few degrees? Kennedy offered. I actually kinda miss not-so-crowded beaches. It gets a little nuts here during tourist season.

Trade. Do the girls in brazil rly wear those tiny bikinis like in cheesy movies?

IT WAS AN IMPORTANT QUESTION.

PS, I promise I'm not asking to be perverted.

Kennedy started laughing anyway, and since she happened to be wandering through an outdoor marketplace at the time, she got a couple of brief startled looks. Nothing too bad, though.

I think that's mostly the tourists.

Oh, like she was going to judge for the question anyway. It was a valid one if you asked her.

Not actually complaining about the view, though. WHAT, IT'S KIND OF HARD TO MISS.

And now Tara laughed into her pillow, and counted herself lucky the dorm was close to empty for the summer so there was no chance she'd need to explain.

Yeaaaaaah, pretty sure you're SUPPOSED to look. Otherwise what's the point? Not like you can rly swim in them.

Point. You made one, I mean.

It was worth noting that autocorrect was the only thing keeping her text messages from being a nightmare of all lowercase letters.

Besides, I don't do that much looking. How's Sunny-D? Quiet?

Quiet, Tara agreed. Like all the vroom went out of everything after the initiative shut down. Will keeps saying it'll get worse soon, though.

Kennedy did a quick bit of mental math, trying to piece together what she'd been told, and all she could come up with was a vague sense that 'soon' might be relative, but it was still wince-worthy. In which case, she was grateful for being on the other end of the line, and therefore unseen when she did make a slightly pained face.

Yep. So goes the 'dale, from what they tell me. Bet the quiet's pretty nice after all that though, huh?

I had it a lot better than Buffy or Willow, Tara answered. But ... yeah. Sunnydale. Like Fandom, except *our* vampires kill people.

Great advertisement for the city, huh?

It would be an honest advertisement, anyway. Plus hey, you never knew, for some people familiar with Fandom that might actually be a selling point.

Got it in one. But hey. Enjoy the break, Kennedy replied. New school year's going to sneak up on us soon. Slayer senses don't really pick up on that. Sadly.
