Sunnydale, Thursday Afternoon

Aug 15, 2013 14:00

Somewhere that wasn't quite Sunnydale, a group of monks were meeting and plotting. They'd decided the best way to conceal the key was to give it human form, and they were almost done exploring the powerful magics they'd need to create a person -- a girl -- out of pure energy. A few more weeks, and the key would be walking, eating cereal, and ( Read more... )

Natalie sent back a picture of Mr. Moxy curled up on the chair by her desk. Feel honoured, Tara, Natalie didn't bother sending cat pictures to just anyone.

Mr. Moxy says hi back.

Tara grinned at the picture and showed it to Miss Kitty -- who glanced at it for approximately a third of a second before returning to her very important project of hunting Tara's shoelace.

Awwww, he got so big! Miss Kitty says hi to her big brother. They need to have a playdate.

We'll both still be here for a few weeks.

Which, yes, reminded Natalie that she still needed to make some choices about whether Moxy was coming to Haiti with her. The other choice was to give him to her parents for a while.

I should get out there before school starts again, Tara typed, though she was far from certain that she would. Is he going w/you? To ... wherever?

Moving a few centuries forward, to Haiti. So don't know yet.

She thought she should ask Peter about pet policies where she'd be living. But somehow she doubted there'd be too harhs restrictions for her and a basic pet cat.

There was a long pause before Tara wrote back.

That is not what I thought you'd say. Haiti in the future?

She figured Moxy would like it as well as anything, but it was still odd.

Yes.

That's not what she was asking, Natalie. But it was still all a little weird to state out loud (or type, in this case) because yes, she'd seemed to have been on a very certain track towards further education. And yet.

I'm going to be Peter's assistant as he moves on in his political career.

Oh. Wow. Have fun?

Lame response, it was a little too out of left field for Tara to do any better. Especially as she was almost certain the Natalie she'd met at the reunion had not been in the political field at all.

Well, that Natalie had run for band president at one time in her life.

You had to look in the details for the big picture to make sense.

Fun, challenges, same thing really.

Cool. Plus, it's definitely Not Montreal.

Tara didn't exactly think fun and challenges were the same thing, but it seemed like a weird argument to get into. She got what Natalie was saying.

I could take Moxy back if you need but might be confusing 4 him? Also my cat is already contraband.

Thanks, but he's either coming with me or staying with my parents.

Natalie... was so not up for giving back one of the few living things who's affection she could depend on, anymore. Even if it was a cool, slightly better-than-you kind of feline affection.

Tara was happy to hear that. Much as she loved Moxy, Miss Kitty Fantastico had gotten used to being an only cat -- and, also, cats weren't like fruitcakes that should just get passed from person to person.

Great. Just wanted to offer. Probably it'll be nice to have a familiar face there, too. Besides Peter's.

Also Peter's staying in Fandom for now.

Tara could probably imagine that in Natalie's usual laconic tones, right?

But yeah. I'm so used to living with a cat by now, it'd be weird without him.
