[One Year Later...]One Year Later. When Howard woke up that morning the light was leaking through the curtains, casting elaborate patterns on the bedroom floor. The duvet around him was soft and warm, and there was an arm slung unceremoniously around his middle. Howard sighed, closed his eyes again and buried his head further into the pillow as Vince hummed

Oh man, I enjoyed this story so much. I had no idea what I was getting into - I got here from a rec post on tumblr that didn't give any summary, and I don't read much Boosh fic these days, so I almost gave it a pass, but the cut text "Howard wasn't allowed near Vince for three days..." really intrigued me.
I loved the pace of this and the unfolding of the mystery from Howard's POV. Everything was so well crafted: the way the first chapter shows Howard in one of his more mundane realities, and Vince is only a faceless stranger who saves his life; the way the different realities reveal Howard's different self-expectations and fantasies; the way he learns a bit more about Vince each time.
I enjoyed each chapter but I think my favorite one was where Vince goes to the club where Howard is performing, and they walk home together. It was perfectly bittersweet. I love the idea of Howard's more confidant, successful personality befriending Vince, with Vince at the same time seeing a new side of Howard while he tries to get them home.
The format of Vince getting to spend progressively more time with Howard was genius, by the way. I could see how it effected Vince's approach, changing it up each time.
And I loved your Vince. I mentioned above that I was intrigued by the cut text - it implied a vulnerable, possibly hurt Vince, and I do love hurt/comfort, but I don't like it when Vince is characterized as a wilting flower or super passive. You had a great blend of assertiveness, vulnerability, snark, and sweetness to Vince. Wonderful characterization!
Finally, do you have a masterpost of the chapters? I considered bookmarking your "there is a science(...)" tag, but the chapter "Our Ideas Of Our Identities" isn't tagged (which meant I missed it on my first read-through, and was a bit confused until I looked back at all your recent entries), and I just know I'll make the same mistake if I read it again in the future!
Sorry for the novel! This is the first Boosh fic I've read in ages, and I'm excited it's such a gem!
I'm sorry it's taken me so long to reply. I spent an awfully long time being a bit frantic because you wrote one of my favourite Boosh fics of all time and well... *flail*
I'm so thrilled you enjoyed it, especially that particular chapter (one of my favourites too, if I'm honest). It was such a messy conceit so I'm so happy you think it worked :D
I really do need to get around to making a big fic masterpost because all of mine are scattered across the interwebs, and I'm so sorry about the panicky lack of tagging. I'll go and fix that now in the meantime but I'll hopefully make a proper masterpost in a week or so.
No worries, I always take a while to reply. And I'm thrilled that you remember my Boosh fic! Thank you so much for that!
And thanks for tagging that stray chapter - I'll just bookmark the tag now and that will work perfectly fine! But I wouldn't say no to a fic masterpost. ;-)
