THEODICY

Theodicy--what a lovely solution to the world's little dilemma. My academic dean, Mr. Eatmon, was and is the smartest person I will ever know.

Knowing God as much as possible is what we as Christians should strive for. There is no way we could fully know God, because we are not infinite. We are eternal, but NOT infinite. However, the more we know God, the closer to Him we can become. Okay, so with that said, how could we know God's justice or His mercy without the condemnation of some? Also, God is not obligated to save anyone--we are ALL deserving of hell. So, it's in God's interest to send some to hell, because He obviously could save everyone if He TRULY wanted. Even, for the free-willers, if we do have free-will, He still would have given us the choice to choose hell; meanwhile KNOWING EXACTLY WHAT WE WILL CHOOSE BECAUSE HE IS OMNISCIENT! So either way, God intentionally sends some to hell. (Inaction can have the same implications as action) Now, with that established, there must be a reason. That's been the biggest problem for Christians and non-Christians alike. But going back to what I said earlier, we need to know God more, and there is no possible way we could comprehend God's justice without the condemnation of some sinners--nor we would understand His mercy--nor could we possibly understand as much of His righteousness as we do now. Sin sets a STRIKING contrast to God's perfection.

Just a thought.
