Stupid People
I don't know if I've made this clear yet, but I really hate stupid people. I sometimes sit in my solitude and wonder why God cursed me with having to be around them.
In Heros and Heroines, we're doing Oedipus Rex (if you couldn't tell from the last post) and Antigone (a very good play). We watched the 2 hour movie today, and instead of giving us our break, she was just going to let us go once the movie was done: 2:30 p.m. I was told we were going to split. So here I am enduring this shitty ass rendition of a perfectly good play, just so it ends on time. I pack my bags and am ready to leave, when the teacher asks if there are any comments on the movie. That's when this fucking dumb wop starts in. Now I don't even know her name, but I can guarantee it's either Francesca, Claudia, Renata, Giovanna, Leonora, Paola, or some other Italian sounding name that undoubtedly ends in an 'a'.
"Um, yes. I was a reading this play, and I justa don't see how Oedipus (pronounced O-day-pus)° or Antigone (pronounced An-tay-gon)° are heros. Like, he seem-a like-a normal man, with all his faults like normal man. This, this-a a make no sense. And I read it and everyting (yeah, she was reading it during class). It no make-a a sense. And the text is just-a so hard to follow. The movie is so modern, but like-a when yous a reading the text, there are some parts that you just-a gotta re-read. Like, this guy make-a no sense."
Now my Nona has one thick fucking accent, so it's not like I'm hating against her accent or anything; I'm hating against her stupidity. My little bambina, I have 2 words for you:
TRAGIC HERO
Othello? Macbeth? No? Figured as much.
Who the hell finds Sophocles hard to read? Are we Mike Johns here? Ok, so her english probably isn't that great. I wouldn't mind so much if she wasn't such a fucking pompous jackass. She pretends to be a know-it-all when looky there, she knows jack-all. I hate people who try to be something they aren't. Stop it. She reminds me so much of Lucy. God, they bring shame to all Italians. I'm going to eat some pasta to cure this shame.
