Blue Skirt

Mar 01, 2011 17:04

I finally made an attempt at sewing something for one of my girls and made Ophelia a simple silk skirt. It took me 15 - 20 minutes of fiddling around with fabric, sewing and attaching snap fasteners. I originally didn't think silk would be so hard to work with.

Here she is modelling!

All in all, I don't think I did too bad! It's a first attempt, so there's much to be improved on, but I got the sizing right and my sewing skills haven't been depleted since I did Home Ec in high school. So I'm happy with the result. I am thinking I may make some more to sell on etsy, but I've got lots of practice to do first!

This is the skirt from the back while she's wearing it.

And here we have some close ups.

Thanks for taking a peak at my newest creation! I feel very much like Dr. Frankenstein when I say that...

Anyway, if y'all have any suggestions for my sewing skills, just give me a shout. Oh just so you know, the bottom part of the skirt was done with a sewing machine and the top part was hand-sewn. I had a little trouble sewing to such a small degree, but I'll work on that!   =)
