I haven't watched CSI: Miami in years for obvious reasons. A couple of days though, someone said the show had played "For What It's Worth" by Stevie Nicks in a recent episode. So... I started to watch the episode just to see if that ended up being true. The song was actually in the episode! I'm surprised I even noticed it though, to be honest; Frank Tripp's mustache in all of its 90s, pubes-on-your-face glory nearly blinded me.
I also liked how the second Horatio took off his glasses, a riot broke out. Normally it's only
when Horatio puts on the sunnies of justice does shit get real. The show really played with my expectations~ there.
But yeah, the song was used! And pretty horribly, I might add. When the lyrics you highlight are, "I got to be a part of a great romance, still forbidden, still outrageous," it's kind of weird to have the scene be about prisoners set free, cause that makes me think the forbidden romance~ was, like, prison rape, a situation where the woman on the outside falls in love~ with the prisoner via letters, or a homosexual relationship based on desperation. None of those possibilities are what I want a barbeque scene or Stevie Nicks to evoke. Yet, the moment was so fucked up, I couldn't help but LMAO and then turn the episode off. I can only take small doses of crack, and the brief glimpse I had of that show was proof that the state of the show has no improved.
