Funny how this isn't going to make the news. Or not.

I started off the week with a video of Tonya Harding bitching about how Obama had said he wouldn't  "pull a Tonya Harding" on Hillary Clinton to win the primary.  Now I'm annoyed as well; at best, I find that language in a political speech to be cliche and ill-spoken.  At worst, I don't think it's worthy language of the President of the United States of America.  And naturally, it's infuriating to think that, in Obama's mind, all of his tactics in the Democratic Primary were respectable.  Calling the Clintons racist even when he knew they weren't was okay.  Ignoring legitimate criticism because said criticism had been raised by a woman was okay.  Insulting millions upon millions of voters was fine, as was actively disenfranchising them.  But that's not exactly news to me.

Neither is the fact that Sarah Palin got hosed unfairly in the general election.  When Caroline Kennedy announced her candidacy for NY senate, Palin publicly raised the question: why weren't people snarling all over Kennedy the way they had Mrs. Clinton and Palin herself?  The Alaskan governor supposed that it had to do with class.  But I think the answer is much simpler: women are only allowed so much freedom within politics.  We can vote, but you can only vote Democrat; vote Republican and you might as well turn in your ovaries.  We're allowed to have political beliefs, but you're only allowed to have certain political beliefs and interests.  We're allowed to run for office, but don't you dare go against Mr. Sexxxy-Pants-the-Messiah, you cunt.  Kennedy was a sweet little woman who posed no threat to the status quo, eagerly putting her toys away the second it looked like she'd have to do some real convincing to get the senate seat.

And you know the sad thing?  Well, there's so much, and I think the least obvious, thanks to our national news' obvious love for Obama, is that all of the things Obama claimed to have and DIDN'T have -- brains in spades, experience, bi-partisanship, etc. -- are things that Clinton definitely has and are things that Sarah Palin seems to have as well.  I say seems, because you'd never know with all the blatant lies about her.  I mean really.  No one will ever hear about how she just stood up against conservatives groups to appoint a woman, who used to be on the Alaskan Planned Parenthood board, to the Supreme Court over an anti-choice man.  All anyone will ever talk about is "I can see Russia from my house."  Which, you know, she didn't even SAY.

politics, sarah's not the devil, warning: contains extreme whining, get me dq evan bayh, what do u mean equal rights?, hillary clinton, history, bad writing, stupid people, annoying things, kiss my ass, attention whoring, rants, hell to the no, bittersweetie, liberal, mr. sexxxy-pants-the-messiah
