Silver lines snake in sharp right angles from the reactor in Tony’s chest. They’re slowly climbing towards his neck. Murphy traces them with a finger, following it until it stops. She can see there are longer ones in the glow of the reactor. She’s seen poisonings before. They were just the typical poisonings though, arsenic, mercury, nicotine. She’s never seen anything like this

It’s fall in the city and the wind off the lake bites just a little. Murphy hunches her shoulders against it. She knows it’s only a matter of time before she’ll be freezing her ass off at crime scenes. Harry glances at her out of the corner of his eye then puts an arm around her shoulders. He doesn’t look that bothered by the changing seasons
