Collections

“Uh… babe?”

Murphy looked up from setting the table to see Alan holding open one of the cabinet doors, inside which was a small army of hot sauce bottles of all shapes and sizes.

“What?” she asked, a little confused.

“This is a little more than Tabasco sauce.”

She rolled her eyes and went over to him. Getting on her tip-toes she reached through the collection of bottles and found the exact one he wanted. She held it out to him, but he was already picking up another bottle and reading the label.

“Oh come on, I have those organized so I know where they are,” she groaned, setting the Tabasco down and grabbing for the bottle in his hand.

“You have a system?” He raised an eyebrow at her, smirking.

“How else am I supposed to find anything in there?” She made another grab for the bottle, but he held it out of her reach.

“Just how much hot sauce do you have?”

She huffed out a breath when she couldn’t reach and stepped back, crossing her arms over her chest. Damn him for being taller than her. “I don’t know. I don’t count them. I just… collect them.”

“You collect hot sauces?”

“There’s something wrong with that?”

“Nope, just figured you weren’t the collecting type.” He put the bottle back from where he got it and peered deeper into the cabinet. “’Cept maybe guns.”

“And strays,” she muttered.
