Let the good times roll!

A list of goodness:

1.) I delivered my final speech today. I had to talk for 10 minutes (alone!) about my internship. And it went really well. Amazingly well. I was nervous during the first page of my speech, but by the middle of my speech I felt... completely relaxed. I couldn't believe how comfortable I felt speaking Russian in front of a whole room full of people-- such a difference from my mid-year presentation. Anyway, I got some great praise from the directors of the program, and I'm really happy about the whole experience.

2.) The brutal Russian winter has finally given way to an amazingly beautiful spring. After all those grey sub-zero months, these bright, warm days have me bouncing off the walls. It is so hard for me to sit still during class. I just want to run outside and roll around in the grass like a dog.

3.) It is 10:37pm as I write this (ignore the LJ time-stamp-- my laptop is still on California time cuz I'm a lazy-ass), and it's still light outside! That's 60 North for you... (For some reference: Anchorage, Alaska is also 60 North; Boise is 43 North, and San Francisco is 37 North. Yes, I'm a nerd. Shaddup.)

4.) Friday after class, I will be flying to AMSTERDAM!!! My dad's gonna be there on business, and since we (in Russia) are going to be having a long weekend for the May Day holiday, I'm gonna blow this popstand and spend the long weekend in Amsterdam with my dad! Wheeee!

5.) Only 21 days till my parents come visit me in Russia!

6.) Only 35 days till I'm back in Cali!

It's amazing how much perspective a Russian winter can impart. I can't believe it's finally over, and I can't believe how much better I feel now that it's over. My God, the sun is back! And I'm in the home stretch, baby!
