Hi Yuletide Writer!

Don't mind the lack of any other posts; I mostly just use Dreamwidth to read/subscribe to people. If you'd like you're welcome to look at my tumblr (zynxqe), but this is entirely optional (and likely of nominal benefit).

General requests: Please don't include death/animal harm. Otherwise, optional details really are optional! You're welcome to write me porn or not, as you like. In general I am pro-happy-polyamory and anti-infidelity.

Hamilton -- Miranda
Angelica Schuyler, Alexander Hamilton, Elizabeth Schuyler

I have so many feelings about this musical. Angelica "the oldest and the wittiest" Schuyler! Alexander "wrote the other fifty-one" Hamilton! Eliza "the world has no right to my heart" Schuyler Hamilton, who nevertheless manages to forgive him and documents his story after his death!

Something I really loved about the musical is how it fuses 18th century and modern cultures together -- lines like "I'm a trust fund baby; you can trust me" or "try to catch your eye from the side of the ballroom/everybody's dancing and the band's top volume". If you could keep that sense -- that as Miranda says it's America then told by America now -- that would be amazing.

Some potential ideas:
-write me some letters between Eliza, Angelica, and Alexander!
-what did Angelica and Hamilton talk about at the winter ball, specifically?
-anything about Angelica being brilliant and making the best of the hand she's been dealt.
(regarding the 'no death' request above...you don't have to rewrite history (ha) or anything, just, y'know, don't ~ominously foreshadow~ anything or make Phillip/Hamilton's death the center of the fic please?)
(similarly, referring to Hamilton's affair is fine, but please don't make it the center of the fic)

The Martian (2015)
Mark Watney

Watney is simultaneously a sarcastic and loveable person. 'Because NASA.'; space pirates! I'd love something that keeps that tone.
A couple more specific ideas:
- touch starvation. There's a huge opportunity for hurt/comfort; he's been literally the only person on the entire planet for years! How does the team ~help him through that, and how does he deal with it?
- scienceing the shit out of things. A look at some of the things he had to figure out on his own/work with NASA to do, either things we saw in the movie or not, would be great!
-relatedly, you could write me more details on how NASA figured out ways to communicate with him!

Thrilling Adventures of Lovelace and Babbage
Ada Lovelace

Steampunk, awesome ladies, and nerdy math+programming -- all of my favorite things in one book! I loved the imagery of Ada (in sensible trousers) wandering through the innards of the giant steam-powered difference engine* looking for errors. Anything in that vein would be cool.

I also love the footnotes, if you want to borrow some of that style (feel free to invent history for the pocket universe!).

*analytical engine, but Sydney Padua is right, difference engine just sounds cooler.
