Your reviews always make me smile; thanks so much for taking the time to comment! I'm glad to hear that you could see this as canon. I worked hard to try to make it compliant to Dean's characterization.

Was John hunting Harpies? I tend to think that he was, because he's not the type to just take a vacation (unless Adam is nearby...). It's definitely an interesting perspective, though, and one that I didn't consider when I wrote this :)

Damn, this hurt to read!

I'm not a John-basher...I know he screwed up his boys but also that he loved them. But this...the lesson John thought he was teaching versus the lesson Dean learned...oh, man, it hurt...and I just want to shake some sense into both of them!

It's absolutely not John-bashing to think that he screwed up in this; he definitely did. He really needs some sense shaken into him. I think Dean just needs a hug, though.

Thanks for reading! Dean does have a lot of sleepless nights ahead of him, unfortunately.
