Ch.1

"Your name is?" Mr. Anderson asked.
"Jamie." I replied as if it echoed everywhere.
I hugged my folder closer to me as i snuck a glance at the class. They were all staring at me. I quickly looked away. Mr. Anderson placed a hand on my shoulder and turned me toward the class.
"Class, we have a new student joining us today. her name is Jamie. Jamie, go ahead and sit where you'd like." Mr. Anderson said.
I bit on one of my lip rings as i nodded. I started making my way toward the back. Everybody was staring at me. Quite a few whistled at me. I finally sat down.
"Hey." somebody lightly said.
I looked over. I'd sat next to a boy. A really cute boy. The boy has shaggy brown hair with tints of blond everywhere. His eyes were that of a light cocoa brown. Almost perfect for fall season. He smiled at me.
"Hi, I'm Joseph. Or you could call me Joey. Doesn't matter," the boy said.
"Uh, hi Joseph. I'm Jamie," I replied dumbly.
"Love your name. In fact, i do believe you're the only one in this school with that name," he said.
    "Really?" I asked with disbelief.
"Yea. This isn't really a big school. Everyone basically knows everyone here for the most part. Doesn't make us all friends though," he smiled.
  "Interesting," I kind of mumbled.
  "You're shy," he noted.
"Um, not really. I mean, I just got here. It's all new to me," I responded.
"Mm. Well, you might not get used to this place at all," he said.
"Hm?" i asked, confused.  "This school is horrible. It's mean. And i do mean mean," he said.

"Oh joy. Real great to know for a first day," I mumbled.
"Sorry." He said. He faced forward.
Mr. Anderson started up the lesson. We were sitting in Chemistry. I watched him demonstrate a few experiments. Then, he had a few volunteers come up to give it a try. It was very interesting to watch.
After a few experiments, i turned my gaze toward the window. It was gray and rainy outside. I think there was even a bit of thunder. It made me feel like an easy fit in.
I glanced down at my folder. The designs on it always distract me. My hair fell down in front of my face. My hair color was that of a light color of chestnut brown, falling about three inches past my shoulders. It's originally straight, but sometimes i curl it. I didn't bother with it today because the rain would of patted it back to straight. I glanced back up, then over at Joseph.
  "Hey Joey?" I asked.
  "Yes?" he responded.
"Where's this next class?" I asked, handing him my schedule.
"English, Mrs. Jenkinson hum? Upstairs, about six doors down on the left," he said.
"Where are the stairs?" i asked.
"Just down this hallway. You'll see it easily. You can't miss 'em," he replied.
"Thank you," i said.  "No prob. I like your snakebites by the way." he said.
   "Thanks." i smiled.
He smiled back, then re-focused his attention to the teacher. The bell rang fifteen minutes later. Everyone stood up and began piling out. I followed Joey out the door.
  "Yo, Joseph!" someone shouted excitedly.
"Hey man, how's it going?" Joseph smiled.
They did their little hand shake and then walked away. I re-focused my attention to finding the stairs. They were all the way down the hall like Joey had said.
I reached the end of the hall and climbed the stairs with everybody else. I reached the second floor. It was pretty much just like the first floor. I counted six doors down on the left. Here it was, Mrs. Jenkinson. I walked in.
"Oh! You're new, aren't you sweetie?" Mrs. Jenkinson asked me.
  "Yes ma'am," I replied.
"Please, wait here for a few moments. What is your name hun?" she asked.
   "Jamie." I said.
"Jamie, got it. Just wait here until i find you a seat, ok?" she said.
I nodded. "Yea, right. As if that's all she was going to do," I thought. It's only the second month into the first semester. Teachers' were making it seem as if i came in four months into the semester.
I sighed as the bell rang for class to be in session. Mrs. Jenkinson walked in. She winked at me. I flashed her a fake smile. She came and stood by my side. Joy.
"Class, we have a new student. She just transferred from Modesto . Everyone, please welcome Jamie Starbury." Mrs. Jenkinson announced.
See? I knew it. Nobody around here could just give me a break. I looked around the class. It seemed about like the last one. Joy. She had her classroom desks shaped in a half oval. Mrs. Jenkinson pointed to an empty desk next to a girl. I began walking. The classroom lights were dimmed just like an art room. It was weird.
Just like the last class, everyone watched as I passed by. I sat down at my designated seat. I looked up and to my left. My breath automatically caught in my throat. The blood in my veins had frozen. I could hear my heart beat and only my heart beat. Sitting a few seats away from me, was the absolute hottest boy I've ever seen in my life. And I've lived for seventeen years!
