Better news
Thanks from me and my computer for your kind wishes. Yesterday we managed to keep the PC running. The circumstances were very strange indeed as we (a friend and I) completely pulled the PC apart and together again, started it and - nothing happened. My friend thought the PC was copletely crashed for it smelled badly burned. We were siting down and were discussing the possibility of borrowing a computer on Saturday over a nice cup of tea when my godfather and his ex-son-in law Alfred came to take a look at it, too. Alfred switched the on-button... and the computer worked. All data and all programs intact! *yay*
That's the good news. The only bad news: The modem was't recognized. So today Alfred will bring me his old modem. I hope it will work.
