It is I, Sarah!
So this semester I am working in the photo lab as a monitor on Wednesday evenings so that I can use the facilities free-o-charge. Sweet. Tonight's project: get a good chunk of Summer II's work scanned in so I can get it up on Flickr to show you fools. So far, the job is awesome. I sit around and talk to people. And there are three monitors here tonight. Because obviously our lab is big enough to merit that many monitors. There are like a huge number of computers (10) to keep an eye on and an even bigger number (25) darkroom keys to guard. Hardcore. Also, I hooked my iPod up to the lab's speaker system and I keep being surprised that I like the songs that are being played.
Hmm. How about a class update? Classes this semester are:
Intro to Linguistics: Taught by a Bulgarian woman with an accent, this class is proving to be quite entertaining. Well, actually, not that entertaining. I just kind of enjoy the subject. Also, the other day when we were discussing phonetics, I got to be the native speaker for the day. So I spent all class living in mortal terror that when demonstrating the difference in sound between the 'th' sound in 'this' and 'think' that I would suddenly find a word that I have mispronounced all these years and being ridiculed for the rest of my days at NU.
History of the American West: This is the one taught by the professor that I liked so much for History of the American Home. I've been calling it my cowboy course and it will be excellent. I'm actually doing the reading, too. At least so far.
History Colloquium: This is the class that all the freshmen have to take to learn how to be a history student. Apparently. But this is the upperclassmen section for kids who either transferred to Northeastern or transferred into the history program. The topic is microhistory which involves taking a single event, looking it from every possible angle, beating the thing to the death, and then being happy because you are an incredible historian.
History of Photography: My photo professor from over the summer is teaching this one. She is crazy but knows what she is talking about and I like her. So there. We get to go to the museum tomorrow. Good thing I'm writing this. I almost forgot.
In other news, I got a job at Apple! Yes, it took them like a year to get back to me, and yes, I had already started looking for other jobs other places, but hooray! I start on Friday. Hopefully I will not die. Non-death is definitely preferred.
I'm thinking of a drastic haircut. Inquire within.
