This is just pure rot-your-teeth FLUFF! None of my usual angst and depth, lol...Just written to cheer myself up :P

Even in the middle of the night, the TARDIS hums. Like a mother singing her children to sleep, not that the Doctor needs to sleep, he is a superior being and all but the sound of the TARDIS’s constant hum comforts him. He remembers the sound of his father’s TARDIS, listening to her hum while he watched his father tinker with her mechanics, back before everything burned. There were days when he could almost forget but only for a moment and then it would come back to him in vivid colour that he was alone now.

The sound of bare feet padding across the cold metal grates pull the Doctor out of his thoughts as he lay underneath the central console where he had been ‘fixing’ the TARDIS. Sitting up the Doctor looked over at where his companion stood with her arms wrapped around her middle, yawning in her light pink tank top and ‘Hello Kitty’ pyjama bottoms that were slung low on her hips. Rose’s hair was fluffed up from where it had been rubbed into her pillow while she had been sleeping, her eyes were barely open and she had lines indented on her cheeks. She looked a mess but to the Doctor he had never seen a more beautiful sight, then his Rose standing there holding her hand out to him.

“Come on Doctor, time for bed” Rose said her voice husky with sleep.

Rose, his Rose, was in some ways like the TARDIS, she was always there, a constant presence in his life, there to soothe the wounds that his life had inflicted on him and hold his hand as he set out on another day of adventure.

Taking hold of Rose’s hand the Doctor relished in the feel of her bed warmed skin, the way it seemed to seep into him, warming the cold parts of his hearts. The Doctor let himself be tugged along towards their shared bedroom, he really didn’t need the sleep but he would follow her to the ends of the universe (literally!) and the chance to have Rose wrapped around him was not something he would turn down.

The Doctor knew there were two constants in his life, the hum of the TARDIS and Rose’s love and he would never truly be alone while he had these things.

The End.
