Alabaster!

The day we spent swanning around the Christmas Markets was quite marvellous: we had many an oversized sausage and cup of Gluhwein. Most agreeable!

Tuesday night I met up with Unusual Guru Wilbur for festive scampi-in-a-basket. It's probably the last time we'll meet until after Christmas, so we did the exchanging of geefts whilst stuffing our faces with fishy goodness. He mailed me the next day to say that I was like Ahab doing battle doing battle with mighty sea creatures. He might also have meant that I'm quite mad, but it's nice to receive recognition for my enhanced eating skills!

Last night was our works Christmas Doo: armed with our self-decorated flat caps, we went to see The Lancashire Hotpots. Our Civils Inspector's hat was so marvellous that when he threw it on stage, the lead singer picked it up and wore it, and even gave it back to him afterwards! Hurrah! The gig was fantastic, but the bar prices have been severely hiked since we were last there (£3.70 for a can! £3.70!! For a can!! How can students afford prices like that??) so we spent the rest of the evening, before and after, in a huge pub across the road. It took ages to get served (the barman had a chicken on his head which probably didn't help) but the beer was cheap and good and there was table football and much silliness. Including a game of bus-tag, fun with cleavages and the inflation and subsequent explosion of a rubber glove. I don't even know where that came from. A fantastic evening!

Mr W was very sweet: he came to meet me off the bus so I didn't have to walk home on my own, helped me out of my corset and strap-on hair, and made sure I drank Resolve and took my make-up off. This morning, he got up early to feed the cats so they'd leave me alone, made me drink more Resolve, and I discovered he'd bought all my favourite stodge to help me recover. He may very well be the perfick blerk.

I've spent the afternoon writing letters to go in with some Christmas cards so that I can post them in the coming week, and getting on the outside of the aforementioned stodge. Yum!
