Yesterday was mad production mode. I actual got a lot done.
Computer Testing, CNC, Embroidery.
I worked on adjusting the sprinklers. Reducing the number of days I water (we are on rationing now) And adjusting the sprinklers so they don't spray into the game room. I have 1 damaged sprinkler, and 2 more that don't work right (they don't move back and forth). I will need to fix those as well.
I kept the embroidery machine running, working on "lucky Leo" bags. I ran out of thread at one point but did a quick Joann's run to get more. I found more fun fabric as well. Some of the embroidery did not turn out as well as I would have liked. I think I need to tweak the design when printing on velvet. The fuzzy nap of the fabric does weirdness with the embroidery.
I need to have 6 bags done for the party, though I am going to try to do about 10. Some are kind of funky. I did not have enough fabric to do all 10 out of the same kind. (The store was out or I just would have gotten more) So I improvised out of what I had on hand.
But now I have enough "regular" fabric to make all the bags. The rest will just be some optional choices. ;)
I did a wax print of the horde symbol last night.
The first attempt ended badly. The wax blank I had was a bit too small so I secured it to the machine using sticky tape (it is a special tape made to do this.)
Unfortunately the vibration made it pop loos and it got all gouged up by the bit.
I tried again, getting creative with my clamping. I had less than 1/8" worth of space to clamp to but it worked. The print is a little "pixley". I think that is more a factor of the cut resolution than the bit size. I may play with it later, but right now I am low on wax and time. *shrug* it is a cute give away I am happy with it as it is.
I still want to do a smaller version of the symbol as well. I will have to modify it to fix the remaining wax that I have, but that is easy enough to do.
I am happy at how quickly I got the machine running. Thought it is so LOUD! I definitely need to upgrade to the new drill motor. Which hopefully will be quieter too.
I need to get a second shop vac set up so I can salvage the wax shavings and reuse it. The wax is surprisingly expensive.
I also need to tweak the software settings. Or work out a better file naming scheme. The print program can only use dos file names which limits what I can call them. So at the very least I need to keep a log of what each cut file is. (object, blank size and type, cut bit to use.
