Yard work:
I put a weed gator blade kit in my leaf mulcher. It took a little feness but I got it to work.
The blades are so heavy they almost max out the motor by themselves. :/ Because of this it just doesn't have the power to really chop up the thicker debree as I had hoped. But on the plus side the blades don't have to be changed every 10 min like the line does. (they are metal so I figure the will last a long time)
I will give it a try on the bird of paradise leaves (which are HUGE! and see if it works.)
I may want to downgrade to the light weight weed gator kit (lighter ,plastic blades) These blades will probably get chewed up (but still no were near as fast as the line) but it will put less stress on the motor.
CNC:
I did a test print of "Martiki" the mascot for the Leo Party 2002: "Angry Tiki Gods" and Leo Party 2007:"Return of the Angry Tiki Gods".
He came out pretty good. :)
There is something thrilling about having a concept go from and idea to a actual object you can hold.
Now that I have the model done I need to try a few ideas out. I would love to make a little "Martiki" charm or token to be able to give out at the party
Embroidery:
I fired up the embroidery machine. Ugh.... about a dozen thread breaks. :/ The weird thing is they were all actual thread breaks.... most due to tangling of the spool as opposed to the alignment problems I have had in the past.
I am not sure why though. :/
I tested out a "Puffy" print. That is you embroider over a piece of friend foam to make the embroidery realy dimensional.
It worked...ok. The print pater I was using really was not a good choose for this. Oh well.
I just wish I could get the machine to the point where I could leave in unattended.
I tried to epod while doing the embrodery. That did not work out, i had to stop ever 5 min or so and fix th broken thread. :(
Project Idea:
Enclosure for the CNC machine. I want to make some kind of noise reducing enclosure for the CNC machine. At least cut down on the worst of the motor noise. I figured out a simple design. It would not be too pretty but fairly effective.
But then I realized that when I upgrade the machine it will dramatically increase the area the unit takes up. :/
Damm. I need to figure out just how big that will be so I can build the enclosure to fit.
