I cut out the plywood blade for me new Spear of longinus.
I did some sanding and cut a slit in the table leg. The notch is a bit to narrow for the plywood to fit in. I need to sand it bigger, or do a few extra cuts to widen it. I will need to rig up some kind of jig to hold it for that.
But it looks good. Really good! Having the shaft extended low off the blade makes a wonderful handle. Making it feel like a short sword.
I think this blade will have even less puddy work on it. Minimal to make it look like it was cast / forged as on piece - as opposed to a blade jammed in a table leg ;)
When I am done the master should be VERY durable. Possibly a usable prop in it's own right. (with more snading and sealing) Which is good because I can use this technique to make larger prop swords and axes. Molding a 6ft sword would use a tone of silicone! ($$$)
I ordered up a
"how-to armor making book" on CD yesterday from
proplady. I am looking forward to trying it out. :)
Next on the prop project list is to get the object printer working again.
