Part of a conversation between Shihli and I:
Tsukyou Ryosko: you are right though, americans are really openly racist now
Tora: It's ridiculous.
Tora: And I think that it's honestly the fact that the church has become political.
Tsukyou Ryosko: yeah, it is
Tsukyou Ryosko: the church wants its power back
Tora: Also, conservative views are thick at the moment. Homosexuality is a taboo and a sin. The church came into power recently. I have gone to church 3 times this year, each time I was flooded with politics.
Tsukyou Ryosko: why does everyone care so much
Tora: It is no longer an institute of religion and peace and spirituality, but of power and politics.
Tsukyou Ryosko: it shouldn't matter
Tora: What shouldn't?
Tsukyou Ryosko: who i want to be with
Tsukyou Ryosko: who anyone wants to
Tsukyou Ryosko: what does that have to do with anything?
Tsukyou Ryosko: i have only gone to church a few times in my life
Tsukyou Ryosko: concervative views go hand in hand with the church
Tora: True, but the truth is that there are millions of soccer moms and proud dads who want to force their sons to **** the way they want them to. Parents aren't supposed to control their kids that much, but these days they can ground kids from speaking to friends, and things that are insane. Most teen suicides are caused by lonlieness.
Tsukyou Ryosko: atleast the church of today
Tsukyou Ryosko: i know that
Tsukyou Ryosko: you should accept your child for who they are
Tora: Like I said, the church is no longer a religious institute, it is now used as an outlet for political views.
Tsukyou Ryosko: yes, it is
Tora: And yes, you should.
Tsukyou Ryosko: church officials think that through politics they can get power
Tora: They hold each other up. The church makes those in power look holy, and those in power let the church have it's say in controlling the people.
Tsukyou Ryosko: yeah
Tsukyou Ryosko: it has been going on forever though
Tsukyou Ryosko: well...for a long time
Tsukyou Ryosko: the church has a say in who gets into power
Tora: Like halting gay marriage and even sex, a move based on religion, which vastly crosses the line between church and state.
Tsukyou Ryosko: yes, it does
Tora: It does, but religion should never rule a land.
Tsukyou Ryosko: no, it shouldn't
Tsukyou Ryosko: hell, it is against the bill of rights
Tora: And unconstitutional.
Tsukyou Ryosko: i should have a say in my politics and i should have the right to follow whatever religion i want
Tsukyou Ryosko: but with the church having its power i am pushed down because of my choices
Tsukyou Ryosko: because i am not in line with what the church thinks is right
Tora: Exactly. Yet did you know it's impossable to get married in any religion? What about the taoists or something that want to get married? Should the christian church be allowed to limit the powers of other religions>
Tsukyou Ryosko: well, really it is a state thing that is the real marraige
Tsukyou Ryosko: the church marraige is just for looks
Tora: Exactly. But don't you think that the state laws and the laws that the church wants to make are the same?>
Tsukyou Ryosko: yes, they are
Tsukyou Ryosko: the church has way too much say
Tora: It's a theocracy, a government ruled by a god, who is interpreted by religious leaders.
Tsukyou Ryosko: yeah...it is sick is what it is
Tora: If a political leader supports gay marriage, the church will claim that they are unholy.
Tsukyou Ryosko: yes, they will
Tsukyou Ryosko: i have to wonder how long that will last
Tora: But I suppose at this time all we can do is try to open the minds of the people.
Tsukyou Ryosko: will gays ever really be able to marry
Tora: Well the thing I'm beginning to realize is that...it hasn't yet begun. African Americans, Natives, all people died and fought for hundreds of years to gain their rights. I thought that homosexuals had paid the price...but I'm noticing that people were more open towards homosexuality in the 90s...it's getting worse, which means that there is still something that...either way, will be a bigger struggle than anything the homosexual culture has yet encountered.
Tsukyou Ryosko: yes, it will
Tsukyou Ryosko: people keep arguing that it is against religion but this is a state matter
Tsukyou Ryosko: the church shouldn't even come into the argument
Tora: Well it should, honestly. But it shouldn't have the power it has over politics.
Tsukyou Ryosko: why do you say it should?
Tsukyou Ryosko: i mean the state and church are, by law, supposed to be separate
Tora: True...but we believe in free speech. They should be allowed to oppose it, if they want to, but not to completely control the issue.
