I didn't expect to find my hometown on the internet lol - I have often said I grew up in Paris - because it's just easier since that's where I attended school and had my social life, but THIS is the town I grew up in and go home to nearly every weekend. Vermilion is a village in Edgar County, Illinois, United States. The population was 239 at the 2000 census.
According to the United States Census Bureau, the village has a total area of 2.0 km² (0.8 mi²), all land.
Demographics
As of the censusGR2 of 2000, there were 239 people, 93 households, and 75 families residing in the village. The racial makeup of the village was 99.16% White, and 0.84% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 0.42% of the population.
The median income for a household in the village was $33,750, and the median income for a family was $36,875. Males had a median income of $28,500 versus $16,146 for females. The per capita income for the village was $13,157. About 8.6% of families and 17.3% of the population were below the poverty line.
