Just read an intriguing story about the epilogue. It's called
Ouroboros. So many commentators said it made the epilogue worthwhile although it's rather creepy. Although it's a wonderfully written story and you should go read it, I have to say I already saw those themes as did a LOT of the Harry Potter fandom. We were dismayed by them and that leads me to my next observation.
1. If love is what defeats the Dark Lord then shouldn't the savior of the wizarding world come from Hufflepuff? Hufflepuff house is loving and loyal and takes everyone in. I remember watching a TV interview of Rowling where the interviewer asked her what she thought the greatest virtue was. She said bravery. No shock there although I recoiled. To me the greatest virtue has always been kindness and Hufflepuff house is kind.
2, Slytherin is the strongest house. It makes sense. ( Full disclosure - I did my Harry Potter personality quiz - and I fall in Hufflepuff house, lol ) Slytherin is ambitious and ambition usually requires you to build something ( at least in its most positive polarity ). Slytherin house is the building house. Hufflepuff is more of a maintainer. Gryffindor has no staying power and Ravenclaw is all theory, no substance. That also means that Tom Riddle would have wanted to go into Slytherin house whether he belonged there or not. And he would have to take over that house in order take on the wizard world.
All right that's all I got * waits for the tomatoes to fly *
