Verity and dueltastic have got me rethinking the surname. I DO like Trompe. But as I said I'm open to other suggestions.
Eppinette just does make too many E's for me though.

bruyere = briar ( My current favorite )
All are agricultural or plant-based. The first two refer to trees.
