...I can feel it coming.
Why?
Because my head won't wrap itself around Chapter 4 of Confessions of a Cornwall Grad. Since I posted Chapter 3 and had my hissy fit, my mind has shifted to other stories I'm working on. Cornwall is part of a larger series that originally started with Well Done, My Good And Faithful Servant. That story got sidetracked by my need to write some emotional background for Severus. The result was For the Price of My Familiar which was the first creative thing I'd completed since 1995 - whoo! - and was the happiest sidetrack I could have made.
Cornwall itself is a sidetrack. Demeter Spencer was supposed to be a throwaway character. Her story was supposed to be 5 pages. It was imply supposed to fill the gap between my stories Well Done and its official prequel The Healer's Apprentice. Instead Cornwall got great response from readers and it's still going.
I DON'T want to disappoint any readers. I really don't. But here's the thing: I like to write in a dense and, I like to think, emotionally complex and complete way. I simply cannot accomplish that by working at top speed. I need time to think ( truthfully I need time to recover from the MASSIVE amount of work I put into Cornwall Chapter 3 ) and I need to give a wee bit of time to other stories. Right now The Healer's Apprentice Chapter 2 has been nudging at me pretty hard.
Bottom line? PLEASE have patience. I'm working on improving my speed but I can't sacrifice quality along the way. And if you ARE patient and send me a message I might send you some fragments. I have multiple starts to my stories until I know which is the right one. So I might have some goodies to give away...
