Scorpion Says

Jul 07, 2006 18:49

There's the story of the scorpion and the frog. Sometimes it's a turtle.

Gibbs thinks about it as he plays with the scorpion charm on her bracelet, the only thing she's still wearing, the only thing she'll always wear, even in the shower. Sometimes she worries aloud about losing a charm down the drain, to which he laughs and tells her he doesn't mind if she takes it off in the shower, no really.

But she won't take it off, and it makes him smile just a little to think of the sad look on her face when she says it.

People have told him the scorpion and the frog story. A lot of people. Sometimes he's the scorpion, sometimes he's the frog. When Ari or Pin Pin Pulla would tell it, he's pretty sure he's the frog. If he's in the interrogation room, he's the scorpion.

He plays with the charm and looks down at the sleeping lady on his shoulder, and thinks how un-scorpion-like she is.
