He'd had to let himself in to the hotel room, using magic to undo the lock, when Devin wouldn't answer the door. The boy didn't even look up when he came in. He sat there, flicking his lighter off and on, staring at the flame. He'd already lit his cigarette, though the ash was collecting on the end in a long column that looked ready to fall at the slightest breath of air.
"Devin?" He kept his voice gentle, frowning when he didn't look up. He moved to kneel in front of him, fingers closing around his, around the lighter. "Devin."
"Go away."
"No."
The Leanan Sidhe pulled away from him sharply moving to the balcony, which made Fergus hurry after him. High places were not good for Sorcerers in this state. Devin leaned over the rail, and Fergus reached to wrap his arms around him, pulling him back against him. There was a brief struggle before Devin sagged back.
"You haven't wings."
"I was just looking." Devin sounded sullen.
Fergus kissed the side of his neck softly. "Come inside..."
Devin glared over his shoulder. "I am not in the mood."
That worried Fergus more than anything else. "Then come inside and get drunk with me."
"Why?"
Fergus shrugged. "Why not?"
Devin watched him for a long moment, then nodded a little.
Fergus kept the alcohol flowing until the boy passed out. He carried him to bed, undressing him, then himself, before sliding in bed next to him, arms wrapping around him tight. It wasn't a solution, let alone a good one, but it kept him safe for this night at least.
He'd worry about tomorrow when it came.
